There are separate rights in these files, and separate notices below:

  1. The composition and its arrangements (proprietary, Part 1).
  2. The instrument samples of all ten tiers: Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra
     4.0, Creative Commons Sampling Plus 1.0 (Part 2). No other sample
     source is used in any tier.


PART 1 - THE COMPOSITION (proprietary)
--------------------------------------

    The composition - the melody, its harmony, and all ten arrangements of
    it (orchestration, voicing, percussion, dynamics and performance) - is
    original and was created for Red Scare Blocks.

    It is distributed only as part of Red Scare Blocks. No licence is granted
    to copy, modify or redistribute the composition, the arrangements or these
    recordings separately from the game.

    Composer's declaration (section 2.2 of
    Mac/docs/design/audio-direction-brief.md):

    - The melody and harmony were composed fresh and are held as scale-degree
      and chord data in Mac/tools/music/anthem_score.py. They do not quote,
      transcribe, paraphrase or reharmonise any existing anthem, hymn, march
      or song. That includes the State Anthem of the USSR / Russian
      Federation, The Internationale, March of the Volunteers, Aegukka,
      Auferstanden aus Ruinen, La Bayamesa, Tien Quan Ca, Hej, Slowianie,
      Varshavianka, Chopin's funeral march, and every national anthem.
    - The theme does not open on the rising fourth from scale degree 5 to 1.
      Bar 1 starts on degree 3, and the only lead-in (bar 16, beat 4) falls
      by step.
    - There are no words: no lyrics, speech, slogans or announcer voice. The
      choir sings only on the sample library's wordless chorus instruments
      (one recorded open vowel).
    - Every sound is a note event rendered through one pinned sample library
      (Part 2), using only the instruments section 5 of the brief allows. No loop, phrase or recorded
      performance, no other sample library, no generation service, no
      licensed API and no API key was used. The hall reverb is a synthetic
      impulse response built from seeded noise by Mac/tools/music/synth.py,
      so it carries no third-party licence.

    This declaration is a judgement. Listening review is the backstop.


PART 2 - THE INSTRUMENT SAMPLES OF ALL TEN TIERS (CC Sampling Plus 1.0)

    may promote Red Scare Blocks; it must not be licensed as music for any
    other advertising. The notice covers the samples. It does not cover the
    composition in Part 1.


HOW THE FILES WERE MADE
-----------------------

    Toolchain: Mac/tools/music/ (anthem_score.py, arrange.py, drones.py,
    humanize.py, library.py, sampler.py, synth.py, mastering.py,
    codec_guard.py, measure.py, melody_lead.py, manifest.py,
    distinctness.py, render_tiers.py).

    - Renderer: sfizz_render 1.2.3 (sfizz, BSD-2-Clause),
      built from the pinned source

      run offline once per part: -s 44100 -b 64 -q 3 -p 256, no --use-eot.
      It is a render-time tool only, never shipped with or linked into the
      game.
    - Hall: the circular convolution hall (Mac/tools/music/synth.py).
    - Encoder: ffmpeg 8.1's native Vorbis encoder, q6, bitexact, no
      metadata. Ogg Vorbis, 44100 Hz, stereo. Before encoding, the loop
      point is guarded (Mac/tools/music/codec_guard.py) so the encoder's
      first and last blocks decode without a seam step.
    - Every render on the library is recorded in render-manifest.json in
      this directory: the renderer and its build, the library's sha256 and
      tree digest, and each tier's arrangement id, instruments, melody lead
      and sha256.
    - Deterministic: the arrangement is data, and the human-performance
      variation (players, timing, velocity, note length) draws only from
      seeded numpy generators, one per tier and stem. Two full renders give
      byte-identical masters and .ogg files with the same sfizz_render and
      ffmpeg builds.

Fetching the pinned library and renderer (into a tool cache outside the
repository, never committed; the cache root is $RST_MUSIC_CACHE, or the OS
user cache directory)
